This includes studying the historical and ongoing impacts of colonization, treaties, and displacement, as well as issues related to health disparities, education, economic development, cultural preservation, and sovereignty. Scholars in this field often work collaboratively with Indigenous communities to develop research projects that are respectful, ethical, and culturally relevant. The goal of this research is to contribute to the well-being and self-determination of Native American communities and to promote social justice and equity for Indigenous peoples.
